Growing great garlic
Autumn weather signals that it is time to plant garlic! The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) welcomes the public to the LOCAL Garden on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. for the Growing Great Garlic workshop. Led by Garden Coordinator Laurie Burhoe, this workshop will discuss and showcase the best practices for Growing Great Garlic in Maine.
Topics during the workshop will include garlic varieties, soil preparation, planting, mulching, harvesting, and curing. Seed stock will be available with a suggested $5 donation to support the garden. Burhoe has been involved with the LOCAL Garden since 2010 and became KELT’s Garden Coordinator in 2016. As a Maine Master Gardener, she works with children, adults, and families to care for the LOCAL Garden and teach gardening techniques.
KELT's LOCAL Garden is located at the corner of High Street and Lemont Street in Bath. This is a light rain or shine event with a suggested $5 donation to help cover the cost of materials. Please sign-up by visiting www.kennebecestuary.org/upcoming-events or calling 207-442-8400.
