Hanley announces local MDOT projects
State Rep. Jeff Hanley (R-Pittston) has announced that the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) Work Plan for Calendar Years 2022, 2023 and 2024 is available. The estimated value of work for more than 2,316 items totals $3.17 billion, a substantial increase from last year due to anticipated federal funding.
The MDOT Work Plan for House District 87 includes projects in Alna, Pittston, Randolph and Wiscasset totaling $5.7 million. They include: Alna: Highway Paving on Sheepscot Road; Pittston: Nehumkeag Bridge Replacement on Route 27; Randolph: Bridge Wearing Surface Replacement on Route 9’s Pearl Harbor Remembrance Bridge; and Wiscasset: Bridge Superstructure Replacement, a new bridge over Montsweag Brook on Old Stage Road.
“The projects in the Work Plan will help our area, and the rest of Maine, but state government does not devote enough resources to our roads, bridges and transportation system,” said Hanley. “We are fortunate that this year’s plan will be supplemented with additional federal dollars, but that only goes toward covering the costs associated with runaway inflation. Like Maine families, DOT has to address more needs with reduced purchasing power.”
