Heartwood Theater Camp ... last call!
Only a few spots remain open in Heartwood Theater’s Summer Camp for students entering grades 5-12.
This three-week intensive theater experience will provide young performers with a unique, challenging, and wide-ranging approach to theater performance, culminating in a 35 to 45 minute original theatrical production. Enrollment is limited to 20 students, and applications must be received by Friday, March 31.
Students will work under the direction of Griff Braley, Heartwood’s artistic director, Ryan Kohnert, Heartwood’s technical director, and Aowyn Burbank, recent Lincoln Academy graduate and UMO student, with others to be announced. Students will practice and apply acting, movement, improvisation, speech, music, mask and ensemble work. Techniques will include dialogue scenes, monologue, poetry, movement, music, mask and shadow work. The text of the play will be drawn from short tales, myths, and poems found in Greek tales, Shakespeare, American and World Literature, providing the canvas for an original, devised multi-discipline performance.
Camp dates and times: July 1-3, 8-13 (including Saturday), and 15-18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with two public performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. Limited scholarships are available with support from Bath Savings Institution, Cheney Financial Group and Colby & Gale.
