'Hit Parade' Hall of Famer Johnny Tillotson in concert June 30
For some, he is considered a living legend. Johnny Tillotson, the Grammy-nominated perfomer who wrote and performed "Poetry in Motion," along with dozens of other hits over the past five decades, is coming to the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor on June 30.
Tillotson's hits have included "Judy, Judy, Judy," "Why Do I Love You So?" "You Can Never Stop Loving Me," and dozens of others recorded by both Tillotson and Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Conway Twitty, Eddy Arnold, Boots Randolph and others. He has topped the charts around the world and has recorded in five languages -- English, Spanish, Italian, German and Japanese.
For those who watched the popular TV series "Gidget" starring Sally Field, Tillotson was the voice singing the weekly theme song. He's also provided music for several movies over the past five decades.
He was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2008 in response to his six #1 international hits and hundreds of charted records worldwide. He's had 15 Top 40 hits on the Billboard charts.
This night of "oldies" with the man who wrote them promises to be a walk down Memory Lane for many in the audience. Tillotson will be backed up by the Danny Harper Band and ticket holders can expect to hear both his classic hits as well as some rock and roll by his early influences including Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley.
Tickets for the concert are $20 in advance and $25 if purchased on the day of the show. The Opera House Box Office at 86 Townsend Avenue is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
