Hodgdon Yacht Services responds to request for personal protective equipment
On Wednesday, March 25, Lincoln County EMA Emergency Operations Center issued a request for new, unused Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to assist frontline Emergency Medical, fire department, and law enforcement first responders, health care providers and health care facilities responding to COVID-19.
Hodgdon Yacht Services of Southport responded to that call Friday and dropped off disposable gloves and N95 face masks. “The equipment is used this time of year as we get ready for spring launching, and for other painting and cleaning projects,” said General Manager Don O’Grady. “But we took a look at our stocks and decided we could get by with less.”
“We don’t keep a huge amount of stock on hand,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Audrey Hodgdon. ““But we felt the priority really was to get as much of the equipment as we could to the medical community at this time.”
As far as restocking goes, the yard will not be rushing. “We will eventually restock,” said Hodgdon. “But we’ll be waiting till there’s more than enough to go around.”
Lincoln County EMA is asking for donations to be left in a collection bin on the front steps of the Lincoln County Courthouse in Wiscasset Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
