Hope Haitian Choir returning to Boothbay
Hope Haitian Choir is a group of 15 children who love to sing and dance! They are energetic, enthusiastic, and excited about sharing their message of HOPE, in Boothbay and all over the northeastern part of the U.S. They have three concerts scheduled for the Boothbay region: Monday, July 25 at 7 p.m. at the East Boothbay Methodist Church (half hour concert), Wednesday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boothbay Baptist Church and Saturday, July 30 at 1 p.m. at the Whale Park in Boothbay Harbor.
The children and their chaperones are scheduled to arrive from Haiti on July 20. They’ll be living with families in the Boothbay region for about a week while they intensely rehearse in preparation for a 25+ concert tour from Maine to Brooklyn, New York. Barb House directs the choir and has made several trips to Haiti to select and work with the children. Most of the music is original, written by Barb and singer/songwriter friend, Fay Murphy. The purpose of this effort is to afford these young people an opportunity to develop their potential so that they can make a positive impact on the world in which they live.
The choir, in a way, is the face of Hope Haitian Ministries, whose mission is to speak hope to America through the faith testimonies of the children, and give hope to Haiti through spiritual development and by practically helping them with education, food, water, medical care and other basic needs. With the help of many individuals and businesses in the area, School of Hope is ready to open this fall, offering education and food for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students. Barb and her husband Chuck House are thrilled to finally see this dream come true in the village of Lamarre, Haiti, where their Haitian son was born.
At the Hope Haitian Choir concerts, people will have an opportunity to share monetarily to benefit projects in Haiti, provide for the tour, and help to feed the members of the choir when they return to Haiti. For more information, you can check out the choir’s website: www.hopehaitian.com.
