Hospice Choir invites new members
The Homeward Bound Hospice Choir holds open rehearsals and invites all those who have an interest in joining to attend. Under the leadership of Choral Director Peter Asche, the Choir meets every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle. The choir supports the care provided by Miles & St Andrews Home Health & Hospice by offering peace and comfort to the terminally ill through song.
Since its first rehearsal in September, Asche has taught choir members a diverse repertoire of songs that spans traditions and religions. In addition to receiving ongoing music training, all singers receive basic training in end-of-life issues to ensure that the choir’s presence in homes or at the bedside will be a discreet and loving experience. Maintaining the privacy and dignity of all those the choir sings to is of the utmost importance.
Choir members come from communities throughout Lincoln County.
“The opportunity to meet new friends and learn new music has been wonderful for all of us, but the greatest blessing of all came when we sang together, blending our voices in service to people at the tender end-stages of their lives,” said choir member and music librarian Paula Campbell. “We are always mindful of our Choir’s very special mission,” she added.
Anyone interested in joining the choir or having more information should contact Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice at (207) 563-4592.
