Indie rockers Darlingside concert May 1
Boston-based Darlingside will take the stage at The Waldo for the first time on May 1, with special guest Spencer Albee (Rustic Overtones, Griffin Williams Sherry) at 7:30 p.m. Comprised of Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner and David Senft, four likeminded multi-instrumentalists who first met at Williams College in 2009, Darlingside’s career has been defined by the elegance of their compositions and the unity of their four voices.
Their talent for harmony and melodic world-building is part of what garnered praise from outlets like NPR, Rolling Stone and The New Yorker, and what has created demand worldwide for their extraordinary live performances. To see Darlingside perform live is to confirm this special chemistry. “Everything Is Alive,” Darlingside’s fourth LP, marks a subtle but remarkable departure for the Boston-based quartet NPR once described as “exquisitely arranged, literary minded, baroque folk-pop.” With the release of “Everything Is Alive” the band will, for the first time, take to the road without Dave Senft. Instead of filling his spot directly, the band has wisely chosen to honor the special chemistry of the foursome by letting those arrangements live on the recordings without obligation to faithfully recreate them onstage.
Spencer Albee is a Maine-based singer, songwriter, performer and producer. Since 1995, he has toured internationally, signed multiple major recording and publishing contracts, and has worked with artists ranging from David Bowie to De La Soul. Rolling Stone magazine called Spencer a "... 21st century master in the lost art of Beatlesque hooks.” He recently produced The Ghost Of Paul Revere’s “Good At Losing Everything” which was met with wide acclaim, and is presently working on his 23rd studio album.
General admission tickets are $30 in advance, $35 the day of the event. For tickets, more information about the Waldo, parking, and more visit thewaldotheatre.org. If tickets remain the day of show, they will be at the box office. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concessions available for purchase.
