Janet G. Palen, 90, of Damariscotta, formerly of Wiscasset died Feb. 20, 2018 at Cove’s Edge.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Oct. 1, 1927, the only daughter of Russell George and Grace (Mull) Tilton.

She attended elementary school in Ohio and graduated high school in New Jersey. She received an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey. On Nov. 27, 1948 she married Peter H. Palen. She owned and operated a needlework shop in Wiscasset for 22 years.

She enjoyed traveling, dining out, stitching, her stitching groups and her beloved cats.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter H. Palen on Aug. 13, 2000.

She is survived by her three children, Laura Palen of California, Brouck Palen of Maine and Pamela Bulmahn of Iowa; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

There will be no services. Burial will take place this summer in Liberty, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
