Janice D. Lindsay
Janice Diane Lindsay, 85, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed from this life Sept. 2, 2019.
She was born to the late Donald and Dolly Giles on Jan. 1, 1934 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Janice lived in many different locations through the years following her husband, John Lindsay Sr., throughout his military career. They finally settled in Jonesboro, Arkansas following John’s retirement and they found their church home at St. John United Methodist Church. They were also very involved in their community, from starting a local food bank to their activities in the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge. John held the rank of Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge and Jan was known as Lady Jan. Jan loved dancing and having a good time with her friends at the Elks Lodge.
Jan was an equestrian and learned “the love of a good horse” from the Giles side of her family in Maine. She competed in many equestrian competitions in Texas and Hawaii. Jan also trained German shepherds and competed in Oklahoma, Texas, and Hawaii. She was also a Master Gardener and taught her children the love of gardening. Jan was a great mother/grandmother to not only her children but also to their friends as well and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Jan was predeceased by her husband, John Lindsay Sr.; son, John Lindsay Jr.; and sister, Brenda Abbott.
Jan is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Cesario and husband Robert and Tonia Lindsay; brother, Elbridge Giles and wife June; sister, Sheila Thomas and husband Allen; grandchildren, Drew Parker Cesario, Jeremy John Lindsay, Josh Clay Lindsay, and Natalie Diane Lindsay. Jan also leaves behind three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Pine Log Cemetery.
