Jorge Peña show at River Arts
River Arts is pleased to announce award winning artist, Jorge Pena, in an upcoming solo show, “Natural Lines” in the River Room. The show runs Thursday, April 18 through Wednesday, May 8. A gala reception with refreshments celebrating this dynamic show will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Colombian born, Jorge E. Peña has resided in Wiscasset, Maine since 2002. Since childhood, Peña has expressed himself through drawings and paintings evolving as a figurative and abstract painter during his later years. His art is guided by personal memories, images as well as shapes and colors of his past and current surroundings. Peña has exhibited at River Arts Gallery, Maine Art Gallery, Harlow Gallery, Akeley Galleries, and in Massachusetts at Cambridge Art and Concord Art.
Pena says, “My art consists of color, shapes, symbols, episodes, and memories. My art is personal; it comes from my heart. It is an intrinsic way to tell my story, my points of view, to tell others what interests me. It reflects my background and my current world, representing my surroundings and my ancestry. My overall vision about what I create shows the duality of two different worlds. My current world in Maine shows that after more than 22 years of planting my roots in this state, I am still `in the process of discovering an exotic world: a discovery of its vegetation, waters, rocks, seasons, and people. The work in this exhibit is linked to my love of nature, where the landscape and certain elements: rocks, forests, trees or weathered tree bark, dominate. Here they are as conceived.”
