Laurie L. Monteiro, 50, of New Harbor died with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 4 2014 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was born in Bath on October 16, 1963 to Otis W. and Sandra J. (Wallace) Sprague. Laurie attended schools in Bath and Morse High School. She worked at the Center Street Laundromat in Bath as the manager for many years. On October 24, 1998, she married Robert P. Monteiro and they made their home in Bath and settled in New Harbor to be near her children and grandchildren.

Laurie enjoyed playing cards, board games, her dogs and was a forgiving person that loved her family unconditionally. She believed that time spent with her family was most important and it was time that could not be replaced.

She is survived by her mother, Sandra Anderson of Brunswick; her husband, Robert P. Monteiro of New Harbor; three daughters, Angela Soto and her husband Daniel of Brunswick, Heather Cash and her husband Richard of Bristol and Jessica Chadwick and her husband Casey of Pemaquid; three brothers, Victor Anderson and his wife Ella of Topsham, Anthony Anderson and his wife Kendra of Whitefield and Otis Sprague IV of Lewiston; four sisters, Penny Anderson of North Carolina, Anita Hammrick and her husband Garret of Bowdoinham, Heidi Sprague of Poland and Sonya Lilly of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Sean Bouchard, Jonathan Bouchard, Austin Bouchard, Keisha Cash, Cheyenne Cash, Allison Chadwick and Jillian Chadwick; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Laurie was predeceased by her father, Otis W. Sprague III on February 12, 1999.

A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the American Legion Hall, Congress Ave, Bath. Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery in Phippsburg in the spring.
