Lincoln County Community Theater
LCCT presents Disney's ‘Beauty and the Beast ‘ - the musical!
Two matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5
“Be our guest! Be our guest!” Lincoln County Community Theater is excited to present Disney's “Beauty and The Beast,” live on stage for just one weekend, May 3-5. This Tony Award winner for Best Musical, with a book by Linda Wooverton, music by Alan Menken, and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, ran on Broadway for over 13 years. And with all your favorite songs from the Disney animated film included and more, plus a talented cast of local performers, you will not want to miss your opportunity to experience this show.
This tale as old as time tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped under an enchantress’ spell. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
In true community theater form, the production is a team effort led by Director Emily Sue Barker with choreography by Niall Lessard, Emily Mirabile, and Phaelon O’Donnell. Joseph Lugosch returns to Lincoln Theater as The Beast, and Emily Bartley makes her LCCT debut as Belle. Recently graduated from USM with a major in musical theater and a minor in dance, Bartley fell in love with performing as a child while attending musicals with her mother. She performed in her first musical as a freshman at Lawrence High School when she played Cinderella in “Into the Woods,” but for Bartley, Belle has always been a dream role. “I grew up with the animated movie, and have always loved Belle’s heart and spirit,” she said. “I love this story so much and I am honored to be playing such a strong character.”
LCCT is also bringing you many other local favorites including Emily Mirabile as Mrs. Potts, Oscar Mirabile as Chip, Derek Kingsley as Lumière, Stephen Wallace as Cogsworth, Debra Arter as Madame de la Grande Bouche, Emily Sue Barker as Babette, Andy Barber as Maurice, Zora Margolis as Madame D’Arque, and Roosevelt Bishop as Gaston. Newcomer Niall Lessard also joins the cast as LeFou.
Licensed by Music Theatre International, with spectacular costumes, music, and staging, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” offers a wonderful opportunity to experience theater for audiences of all ages!
