Leaves at Story Hour
With the warm weather we are having, everyone this week at Story Hour couldn’t pass up another opportunity to get outside and play in the mild fall weather. We read some very appropriate books to get us motivated for jumping and crunching in leaves such as "Leaf Man" by Lois Ehlert, "Autumn Leaves Are Falling" by Maria Fleming and "Leaves" by David Ezra Stein.
Taking our craft idea right from author Lois Ehlert, we collected many different shapes and sized leaves and brought them into the children’s room to start our leaf creations. Some of the final products included fish, turtles, people, and birds that the children happily displayed while standing next to our scarecrows from the previous week. All of the children agree that since everyone has lots and lots of leaves right now, we can all get a little creative with “Leaf Art.”
Story hour is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wiscasset Public Library which is located at 21 High Street. All good listeners are welcome to enjoy a few good stories and an activity to follow.
