Lincoln County Democrats to host Senate primary candidate forum
Democratic primary candidates for Maine Senate District 13 (SD13) will participate in a forum hosted by the Lincoln County Democratic Committee on Tuesday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at Great Salt Bay Community School, 559 Main St. in Damariscotta. The event, which will also be livestreamed, will offer voters an opportunity to hear from candidates David Levesque and Cameron Reny on a range of issues.
Levesque and Reny are running for the seat currently held by Sen. Chloe Maxmin (D-Nobleboro), who is not running for reelection. The winner of the primary, set for June 14, will become the Democratic nominee for SD13 in the general election Tuesday, Nov. 8.
State Senate District 13 includes all towns in Lincoln County except Dresden, as well as Windsor in Kennebec County and Washington in Knox County.
Levesque, who lives in Newcastle with his wife and three sons, has practiced law for 24 years and held leadership positions in many nonprofit and professional organizations such as the Maine State Bar Association, Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce, University of Maine at Farmington Board of Visitors, and as a Newcastle Selectman. Levesque wants to bring his “skills and experience to address the issues affecting our community and state.”
Reny, born and raised in Bristol, currently works as a school counselor and is running for the Maine Senate to improve the lives of people in her district. “As an educator and lifelong resident of Lincoln County, I’m running for office to bring regular Mainers back into focus,” said Reny, adding “we need to preserve a sustainable future where our children can thrive.” Reny lives in Bristol with her husband and two young children.
The event is free and open to the public. All attendees will be required to wear masks. Questions for the candidates should be submitted in advance via an online form at https://lincolncountydemocrats.com/questions by 5 p.m. Friday, April 22.
A livestream of the event can be viewed at https://lincolncountydemocrats.com with closed captioning or on the Lincoln County Dems’ Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/lincolncountydems. The forum will also be recorded by LCTV for airing at a later date. Questions may be directed to campaign@lincolncountydemocrats.com.
