On Tuesday, May 30, Senator Dana Dow (R-Lincoln) presented Deputy Clayton Jordan of Whitefield with a Legislative Sentiment before the Senate recognizing his achievement of being named the 2016 Deputy Sheriff of the Year. At the age of 63, Deputy Clayton is the agency’s oldest full-time deputy. He is a 20-plus-year veteran of the agency whose career in Maine Law Enforcement dates to the early 1970’s.

Deputy Jordan first worked for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office from the mid-1980s until 2002, starting as a Patrol Deputy and working his way up to Patrol Sergeant and then Patrol Lieutenant. In 1986, Jordan became the county’s first deputy to work with a full-time police dog: a German Shepherd named Heidi. He returned to the force in 2012 and is now tasked with providing security for District Court Judge Barbara Raimondi. He also tasked with the transportation of inmates of Two Bridges Regional Jail to and from the courthouse and other correctional facilities.

“I was pleased to have Deputy Jordan, his wife Beth and his colleagues from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office join us for the day in the Senate to celebrate this great accomplishment and thank Deputy Jordan for dedicating his career to the safety of Lincoln County residents and judges,” said Sen. Dow.
