Local Democrats to gather March 22 for key organizational meeting
The Boothbay Region Democratic Committee (BRDC) and the Southport Democratic Committee invite local Democrats and friends to join our first gathering of 2025 on Saturday, March 22, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. This event will take place at the Rotary Hall, located at 66 Montgomery Road in Boothbay Harbor, and will feature a combination of lively fellowship, engaging conversation, and important organizational business. Elected officials and other invited speakers will also share their remarks.
During the March 22 meeting, two significant votes will take place. The first will be on a proposal to incorporate the Southport Democratic Committee into the BRDC, which currently represents Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, and South Bristol. The merger acknowledges the longstanding collaboration between the two organizations and formalizes our strong working relationship. By combining forces, we aim to enhance our resources and coordination, particularly during campaign seasons when support for our candidates is crucial.
The second vote will involve electing or re-electing committee officers for BRDC and selecting vice-chair representatives for each town.
Several speakers will address the gathering, including Maine Senator Cameron Reny and Representative Holly Stover (invited), along with Keith Mestrich, the new chair of the Lincoln County Democratic Committee. A special guest, Brian Colleran, senior director of the Maine House Democratic Campaign Committee, will also be in attendance. Brian will provide insight into the process of selecting and supporting candidates for state offices—an important topic as we begin preparing for the 2026 election cycle.
All Democrats from the communities of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol and Southport are welcome and encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served, and potluck donations of appetizers will be gratefully accepted, though not required.
Your participation in this meeting will make a difference in our community! Please join us as we begin preparing for the 2026 election season.
