Lucky to live here this week
There was fair warning but the weather in southern Delaware on Monday was a shocker, nonetheless. Eight to 12 inches of snow fell on a state that doesn’t normally get that much snow in one fell swoop. My sister lives in Frankford, Delaware and hopefully my brother, who is staying with her currently, got out and shoveled her deck and driveway. I don’t think my sister has an on-call plow driver – doesn’t need it most winters. Like my brother said in a text on Saturday night, “We got a dusting … everything comes to a screeching halt!” Sister and brother grew up here in Boothbay Harbor so they know how to deal with winter white!
Also, our son and daughter-in-law live in Omaha, Nebraska. They were spared the snowstorm which moved east across the country. However, the Plains are wide open and the Polar Vortex hit them harder than what we got on Sunday and Monday (and continuing through late week). Their daytime temperature on Monday noon was 11F while we hit a tolerable(?) 20F.
Oh January, you can be so cruel. But we are thankful for another week without a significant snowfall here on the coast of Maine. We’ll be ready when we get our share of snow.
