'Macbeth' set to open this weekend
Excitement is mounting in the Poe Theater, as 22 students race to the opening night of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” – an ambitious undertaking for any cast - and these students will deliver a fast paced, 90-minute version to please any audience. Under the direction of Griff Braley, “Macbeth” is the 22nd annual high school collaboration between Heartwood Theater and Lincoln Academy.
Tackling Shakespeare’s inimitable poetic language with memorization and interpretation, inhabiting the characters, unraveling the complexity of plot and relationships – giving it all back to the audience, along with beautiful technical elements – this has been a challenging project and will be a great achievement.
Director Braley notes, “This cast is comprised of several very solid upperclassmen and numerous freshman and sophomore students making their first appearance in the high school arena. We're pleased with the growth in all aspects, for this group.”
Five 7 p.m. performances are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25, Saturday, Oct. 26 Thursday, Oct. 31, Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 in the Parker Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy.
