Maine Maple Sunday March 24
Members of Maine Maple Producers Association, and licensed sugar houses across Maine invite the public for a behind-the-scenes look at making Maine’s Official Sweetener on Sunday, March 24. Many sugar houses are also open on Saturday, March 23.
"Maine Maple Producers are waiting to welcome the public to their sugar houses to see demonstrations on how syrup is made and taste samples of syrup and foods made with syrup. Many farms also offer games, activities, treats, sugar bush tours, music, and so much more," says Kathy Hopkins, maple syrup expert with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
The annual event is held every fourth Sunday of March. Visitors are invited to support Maine’s maple businesses and shop, meet and learn about maple syrup and a variety of maple products that feature real Maine maple syrup as an ingredient.
In Edgecomb, visit the Henhouse Sugaring Company at 232 Cross Point Road; in Newcastle: Sweet Woods Farm, 144 Lynch Road; in Woolwich: Cafro’s Maple at 288 Chopps Cross Road.
