The Maine Chapter of the March of Dimes will be hosting an informational session for those interested in walking in the statewide March for Babies on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta in the Children's Library. Children are welcome.
March of Dimes Family Team Specialist and Wiscasset resident, Aubrey Martin, will be available to answer questions about registering a team, fundraising strategies and the March of Dimes mission.
There is no cost to register, and walk sites include Portland, Augusta, Rockland, Lewiston, Saco and Bangor. They are family-friendly and pet-friendly events.
The March of Dimes works to prevent premature birth, birth defects and neonatal death through research, education and advocacy. They have a NICU Support program at Maine Medical Center to support families with babies in neonatal intensive care.
For those who are not able to attend the Information Session at Skidompha, one can register as an individual or group at www.marchforbabies.org.
