Mary E. Cahill
Mary Elizabeth Cahill, 90, of Jackson, New Hampshire passed away peacefully at her summer home in East Boothbay, Maine on August 17, 2017. She was the wife of James D. Cahill Jr., who died in 2000. Mary was the daughter of William Boland and Mary Elizabeth Linnehan.
Mary graduated from Haverhill High School, Regis College, and the Boston School of Occupation Therapy. Before becoming a mother Mary worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston as an industrial accident rehabilitation therapist.
Mary was a skier until she broke her leg at Tyrol Ski Area during the winter of 1978. As a young woman she shot a respectable game of eight ball. She was for a brief time a league bowler. Her lifetime favorite piano players were her husband Jim, Eddie Duchin and Herb Wenner. Randy Newman made the list when she was in her seventies.
Mary’s sister Ann Messer of Bradford, Massachusetts and brother Jack Boland of Newburyport, Massachusetts survive her. Her brother Bill Boland, Jr., died in 2012.
Her children are James of Cape Neddick, Maine, William of Piermont, New Hampshire, Jake of Nashville, Tennessee, Ann Garry of North Hampton, New Hampshire, and Mary Beth Warlick of Bartlett, New Hampshire. Mary had 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mary was devout in her Roman Catholic faith, a lay member of the Order of Saint Francis, and a faithful contributor to numerous charities serving the poor and disabled. Her memory will be greatly honored by donations to such organizations. There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service in New Hampshire will take place in October.
