AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 6, of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,254 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,174 confirmed cases and 80 probable cases. 

Across the state, 766 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 62 people have passed. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 191.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 37 hospitalized, including 18 in critical care and 12 on a ventilator. There are 162 available critical care beds out of 320 total and 288 available ventilators of 318 total and 395 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 22,092 negative cases, as of May 6. “Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states. 

By sex, 670 females have tested positive in the state and 584 males have tested positive.  

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”
