May and June Artist of the Month: Ramone Hanley-Warren
The featured Artist of the Month this May and June at the Southport Memorial Library is Ramone Hanley-Warren. Her two-month show is called "Breathe, See, Paint."
Ramone states: "I am drawn to the salt marshes and tidal areas especially, but not always. Certainly the natural world around me and all the beauty it encompasses is what tells me to breathe, see, paint."
Ramone has been creating art in Maine for more than 30 years. Her formal artistic training included time at Parsons School of Design and The New School in New York City. Studies in Europe including an intensive art history and painting in Florence, Italy and Tuscany. And, she was a Fine Arts Major at S.U.N.Y. Purchase, New York.
Most recently, Hanley-Warren has transitioned to a new studio and home, she and her husband renovated and built. She is gleefully back at work painting and delving into the new world of Sqrafitto pottery.
Ramone has shown in galleries, had solo shows and participated in group exhibitions around the state. Most recently she had a solo show at the Boothbay Region Land trust's remarkable gallery. Find more of her artwork at Instagram@ramonehanleywarrenfineart.
