McSeagull’s debuts fresh interior renovation
After originally opening its doors in 1976 in the quaint waterfront town of Boothbay Harbor, McSeagull’s Restaurant debuted the newly renovated interior on May 19.
The Boothbay Harbor region’s year-round population is roughly 6,000 people but during the summer months, the area surges to approximately 50,000, according to the Sotheby’s Real Estate site. A local favorite place to eat and drink is McSeagull’s.
The new owner (as of May 2022) has been working and summering in East Boothbay since he was born with strong family ties to the area. It was extremely important to continue the legacy that McSeagull’s has had over the past 47 years.
“McSeagull’s has been a well-known destination across the country for decades, so it was important to create an elevated but casual experience, to be welcoming but not intimidating and to not take away from the impeccable water view. We used soft blues, greys, and whites to bring out the ‘coastal vibe,’ without trying to be something we’re not,” says Elisabeth Wilde, CEO and founder of C.K. Imports. Wilde has designed several of the restaurants in town, as well as in her home state of Connecticut. Clients seek out C.K. Imports all along the East Coast for home, retail store and restaurant renovations.
Executive Chef Jesse Mackie, who has over 15 years of culinary experience, worked with the new owner to curate and simplify the menu. McSeagull’s is known for their fresh, locally caught lobsters and other seafood options, using only the highest quality ingredients. The chef’s most requested dish (aside from classic lobster rolls)? The baked haddock: encrusted in panko herbs, with lemon butter and white wine, finished with roasted red potatoes and asparagus.
