The Maine Department of Transportation has announced its work plan for the next three years. The plan includes all capital projects and programs, maintenance and operations activities, planning initiatives, and administrative functions. This plan contains 2,180 work items with a total value of $2.71 billion. The following projects are scheduled for Lincoln County for 2021. 

In Wiscasset, there are two projects for Wiscasset Municipal Airport. An aviation, runway/taxiway, reconstruction project is for safety and infrastructure improvements which include acquisition for snow removal equipment. Estimated project cost is $361,000. An airport general equipment purchase and aviation, runway taxi, and reconstruction project provides safety and infrastructure improvements. This work includes design, permitting and reconstruction of Runway 7-25 for Phase 3 obstruction removal. Estimated project cost is $4.12 million. Three highway construction/rehabilitation, rural highways, and intersection reconstruction projects. The first reconnects a U.S. Route 1 northbound left-turn lane on Old Bath Road. Estimated project cost is $760,000. The second constructs a U.S. Route 1 southbound left-turn lane and right-turn lane at Route 144 intersection. Estimated project cost is $699,000. The third constructs U.S. Route 1 left-turn and right-turn lanes at the Route 144 intersection. Estimated project cost is $540.000.

In Wiscasset/Bath, a rail bridge and rehabilitation project for the Rockland Branch Rail Line. A bridge over Sewalls Creek and one over the Sheepscot River on the Rockland Branch rail line. Estimated project cost is $1.32 million.

In Boothbay,  a highway and light capital paving project on Route 96. Paving begins at the Boothbay Harbor line and extends for 4.4 miles. Estimated project cost is $185,000.

In Wiscasset/Woolwich, a highway bridge superstructure replacement is slated for Old Stage Road. The new bridge will be over Montsweag Brook at the Wiscasset-Woolwich line. Estimated project cost is $500,000.

In Boothbay Harbor, there are two ports-harbors, piers, floats, fenders and rehabilitation projects. One is at the Footbridge and Town Landing beginning at the intersection of Boothbay House Hill and Commercial Street. Estimated project cost is $563,000.The other is at Fishermen’s Co-op  for station improvements off Atlantic Avenue. Estimated project cost is $521,000.

In Boothbay Harbor/Southport, the state received a Federal Highway Administration grant for highway and bridge rehabilitation. The grant is a $10.6 million BUILD (better utilization investments to leverage development) Grant. The Southport Bridge over Townsend Gut will be rehabilitated. On Route 27, another project calls for highway and light capital paving, The project begins at Town Landing Road and extends 7.62 miles to Route 96. Estimated project cost is $320,000. 

In Boothbay, Edgecomb and Newcastle, highway and light capital paving for River Road beginning at Route 27 and extending north for 9.39 miles. Estimated project cost is $394,000. A River Road  drainage maintenance project will replace culverts in various places. The project begins on Castlewood Road and extends 6.75 miles to Walker Road. Estimated project cost is $159,000. 

In Edgecomb, two highway and light paving projects are scheduled. On Eddy Road, paving begins at Route 27 and extends north for 1.55 miles to U.S. Route 1. Estimated project cost is $65,000. On McKay Road, paving begins at Route 27 and extends east for 1.66 miles to River Road. Estimated project cost is $70,000. On River Road, a large culvert replacement is slated 0.94 miles north of McKay Road. Estimated project cost is $54,000. 

In Edgecomb/Wiscasset, a highway paving, rural highways, mill and fill project for U.S. Route 1 projects begins 0.01 mile southwest of Lee Street and extends northeast 0.43 miles. It continues 9.29 miles west of the Wiscasset line and extends another 0.67 miles. Estimated project cost is $504,000.

In Edgecomb/Newcastle, a highway paving, rural highway and ultra-thin bonded wearing course project begins on U.S. Route 1 and extends 1.41 miles east of the Wiscasset line extending northeast 2.78 miles. Estimated project cost is $788,000.

In Dresden, there are three drainage maintenance projects for Routes 127 and 128. On Route 127, a culvert 320 feet from the Day Lane intersection will be replaced. On Route 128, a culvert 0.13 miles north of Courthouse Road will be replaced. On Route 128, a culvert will be replaced on Route 128, 0.13 miles north of Popp Road. Estimated cost for each project is $150,000. A  highway bridges improvement project is slated for Middle Bridge over Eastern River which is 0.28 miles from Route 127. Estimated project cost is $300,000. 

Dresden/Richmond, a work program management, environmental and natural resource management project will occur on Route 197 for the Maine Kennebec Bridge. Estimated project cost is $20,000.
