MDOT project reaching Route 1
Work on the Wiscasset Downtown Project will reach Route 1 beginning this week, according to a Maine Department of Transportation announcement. Crews will work on drainage on the west end of Route 1 to the corner of Water Street. Brick sidewalk pavers will be placed at the Water Street and Railroad Avenue intersection. Signing of the parking lot at Railroad Avenue will be completed, as will any signing needed on Water Street. Pipe trenches will be paved in.
From Nov. 4 to Nov. 9, crews will work on drainage on the north side of Route 1 and on the south sides just east of the Water Street intersection. Pavement will be removed from the existing parking areas on the north and south sides of Route 1 between Water and Middle streets. Temporary patches will be paved as needed.
As always, work may be delayed if bad weather strikes. Work will be completed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Lights and noise are likely to occur. Drivers through the work area should observe all construction signs and any temporary lane changes.
