'Message of the Owl,' a story for all ages by June and Bob Rose
June and Bob Rose are pleased to announce the release of their new book, “Message of the Owl.” The story has three parts: “A Shared Mission,” “Incident at Ice Pond” and “The Message Unfolds.”
The plot follows a quest by animals who characterize real personalities, familiar old and young alike. In fact, the reader may find a piece of themselves in the story.
Most of the action occurs in Edgecomb around Poole’s Landing and the Old Ice Pond, near Bennett’s Neck. Bob Rose’s illustrations give the book a dynamic charm with his special use of color and movement.
The Roses live on the River Road, where they found inspiration from their own backyard and decided to turn their observations into a tale of “seeking and finding answers.” Bob Rose's early career as a graphic artist included several years as a book designer. He also is a successful fine artist whose work is found in collections around New England.
June Rose is a Boothbay native who has written poetry all her life. She has recently written a small book of poems called “A Time for Every Season” and currently is gallery manager at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation.
“Message of the Owl” was designed and self-published by the Roses and was printed at Lincoln County News. Signed copies are available at Sherman’s Bookstore and Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor and at The Weatherbird in Damariscotta.
