Messy weather arrives Saturday night
Saturday will be fine for getting around. Then Saturday night, things get messy. Snow should arrive in Lincoln County by about 9 p.m. Jan. 3, said meteorologist Stacie Hanes of the National Weather Service’s Gray office.
The snow will continue until early Sunday, when it mixes with sleet; only northernmost Lincoln County appears at risk of freezing rain, Hanes said. Rain takes over around mid-morning Sunday and departs during the afternoon.
A total snowfall of three to five inches is forecast for the region, with less, perhaps about two inches, closest to the coast.
The tail-end of the storm will usher in winds as high as 20 to 30 mph Sunday night into Monday, Hanes said.
A winter storm watch was in effect for the region Friday evening.
