Michael M. Stacy
Mr. Michael McKown Stacy passed away on July 29, 2017 at his home after an extended fight against Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in Woolwich, Maine to parents Reginald and Gertrude (Gilmore) Stacy on June 13, 1944.
He married Barbara Jean Hodgdon of Woolwich on February 14, 1964. The couple resided in Woolwich until 1998 when they built a new house and moved to Dresden. Michael and Barbara have four children: Michael Jr., Christine, Sarah and Deborah, their spouses and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Stacy enjoyed being surrounded by his family. Mechanical and building projects were his specialty. One of his last projects was building and landscaping a family camp in northern Maine. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and took many trips with family and friends to northern Maine destinations. Mr. Stacy had an extensive work history. He served the town of Woolwich for many years; as selectman and then becoming road commissioner. He dug worms, worked in the woods and was a crew leader at the Hyde Windlass Company. For over 30 years he was an excavating contractor. He was employed at Fournier Steel Fabrication, and finally at BIW having been a crane operator, shipfitter, and maintenance mechanic.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Reginald Deering Stacy of Mississippi.
