Midcoast Senior College presents 15 new classes
Midcoast Senior College brings classes to seniors interested in lifelong learning. The following new courses begin the week of Nov. 4 and run through Dec. 13. Courses are four- to six weeks long and are either in-person or on-line (Zoom). No grades, no exams, join MSC for learning for the fun of it! Registration for the following courses opens on Oct. 14 for members and Oct. 16 for the public.
Elemental, Part I 9:30-11:30 a.m. is a 5-week, in-person course and begins 11/4 (no class 10/14) with Barbara Snapp. A Zoom version of this class is offered in the afternoon, starting at 1 p.m.
Germs 201: Microbes vs. Man 1-3 p.m. is a 6-week, 120 minutes in-person course and begins 11/4 with Richard Neiman.
Edmund Blunden 1-3 p.m. is a 6-week, 120-minute in-person course and begins 11/4 (no class 11/11) with Bob Bunselmeyer.
Anamnesis 9:30-11 p.m. 5-week, 90-minute Zoom workshop and begins 11/5 with Paul Kalstein.
How to Read a Contract 9:30-11 a.m. is a 6 week, 90 minute in-person course and begins 11/5 with Scott J. Burnham.
“How to Write a True War Story”: Two Sides of the Vietnam War 1-3 p.m. is a 6-week, 120 minutes in-person course and begins 11/5 with Michele Lettiere.
MSC Singers: Winter’s Song 2-4 p.m. is a 7-week, 120-minute in-person course and begins 11/5 with Stu Gillespie.
The Birds and the Bees (and the Monkeys) 9:30-11 a.m. is a 5-week, 90-minute Zoom course and begins 11/6 with Jay Kuder.
Critical Thinking Skills 9:30-11 a.m. 6-week, 90-minute in-person workshop and begins 9/10 with Terry Porter.
Essential Opera: Saints and Sinners 1-3 p.m. is a 6-week, 120-minute in-person course and begins 11/6 with Ross Crolius.
American Religious History 1-3 p.m. is a 4-week, 120-minute in-person course and begins 11/6 with Theodore Stainman.
Can We Mitigate Cardiovascular Aging? 9:30-11:30 a.m. 6-week, 120-minute online course and begins 11/7 with Susan Goran.
Juvenile and Criminal Justice Reimagined: Promoting Justice, Equity and Accountability 9:30-11 a.m. is a six-week, 90 minute Zoom course and begins 11/7 (no class on Thanksgiving) with Peter Leone.
Nature and Community in Willa Cather’s O Pioneers! 1-3 p.m. is a 5-week, 120 minute in-person course and begins 11/7 (no class on Thanksgiving) with Cheryl and John Swift.
A Short Story Bimble 9:30-11 a.m. is a 6-week, 90 minute in-person course and begins 11/8 with John Haile.

The annual $40 membership fee is valid from July 1 through June 30 of each calendar year. All courses are $60 per person. MSC offers confidential tuition waivers to its members from its scholarship fund. Please contact us if our fees are outside your budget.
