Elizabeth “Bette” Monfort, 96, received Westport Island’s Boston Post Cane Friday afternoon, May 21, Deputy Municipal Agent Gaye Wagner said. Selectmen presented Monfort with the honor that goes to the town’s oldest resident.
Wagner said Monfort and late husband Platt moved to town after buying land there in October 1970. “So she's been here 50 years,” Wagner told Wiscasset Newspaper via email.
