Half an hour after Wiscasset’s polls opened in Wiscasset Community Center’s gymnasium, voting was brisk and steady, according to Town Clerk Linda Perry.
“It would be an estimate, but I think we’ve had between 30 and 40 voters in the first half hour,” she said.
A few people in the first few minutes registered to vote as well, she said.
Besides state and national items, Wiscasset has a single local question, on Wiscasset Ambulance Service. Even though the alternative ambulance service pulled out of the discussion until it can replace its director, it was too late to remove the issue from the ballot. Perry said that is because early voting had already begun.
Polls are open until 8 p.m.
