New year baby born at Miles
Harper Yeaton, the first baby of the new year on the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth, was born to parents Jeremy Yeaton and Jasmine Doughty, of Friendship, Jan. 4 at 2:55 p.m.
Baby Harper arrived about 10 days earlier than expected, surprising her father, who was fishing 100 miles offshore.
Jeremy had planned his fishing trips so he could be home for his daughter’s birth, but when Jasmine went into labor early he was still at sea. Jeremy said it was difficult knowing that Jasmine was having their baby and not being able to stay in touch with her.
Jeremy could only call Jasmine a few times during the day and even then, carrying on a conversation was difficult from the deck of the boat, especially because he had to talk while protecting the phone from the elements.
“It is great now that I know everything is fine,” he said.
Harper weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces. Jasmine said that while Jeremy was not able to be home for the birth, her mother and sister-in-law were there with her. And she said Lincoln Medical Partners Nurse Midwife Cindy Dublin-Morin, CNM, NP, was wonderful.
Jasmine said she and Jeremy chose to have their baby at the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth specifically because of Lincoln Medical Partners midwives. Lincoln Medical Partners midwives offer supportive personalized services during pregnancy, birth and beyond.
“We came to Miles so we could have Cindy,” Jasmine said. “She was wonderful.”
