On Tuesday, March 12, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office conducted a search warrant at the home of Robert Wallace, 54, on Birch Lane in the town of Newcastle. During the search two rifles were seized along with several rounds of ammunition. Wallace was arrested without incident and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Felon). He was taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset for processing.

This search warrant was the result of an investigation into the allegation that Wallace was a convicted felon in illegal possession of firearms. Wallace was convicted in 1980 of Aggravated Assault and in 1997 of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (felon).
