Oyster portraits at Damariscotta River Grill
For the first time in Maine, Oyster Portraits painted by Carol Abitabilo Ast will be on exhibit at the Damariscotta River Grill now through October 28. The exhibit coincides with the Pemaquid Oyster Festival in Damariscotta on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The oysters she portrays are not only from Maine (Pemaquid, Gay Island, Glidden Point, etc.), but also from other oyster-growing areas along the east and west coasts. The exhibit includes land and seascapes of Maine.
Abitabilo Ast has exhibited her work in various juried group shows, including the Pastel Painters of Maine's 12th International Pastels Only exhibit, where she received the Degas Pastel Society Award in 2011, the Pastel Society of New Mexico, and the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition in Old Forge, New York. She is a member of the State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca, NY, where she had a two-person show in August, and where her work can be seen regularly.
See Abitabilo Ast's work during regular business hours at the restaurant. The Damariscotta River Grill is open seven days a week, and is located at 155 Main Street, Damariscotta. For exact times each day, call -207-563-2992.
