Pemaquid Watershed Association presents ‘Nature’s Gifts’ exhibit
New Harbor artist Jane Bowman's show “Nature's Gifts,” will be exhibited at the Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) office gallery from Monday, Oct. 6 through Nov. 14. The PWA invites the public to a reception for Bowman from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Through her artwork, Bowman strives to capture and present, through color and texture, fleeting moments in the drama of landscape as well as day to day life in nature and its creatures.
Clean, crisp lines of architectural structures and figure drawing are also subjects which inspire her in the challenge of rendering images. Her influences include American masters Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent and the French Impressionists.
Establishing her favored medium in watercolor, she studied with two well-known artists in the Boston area: William Commerford, a commercial artist/painter and a painting instructor in the MFA Studio Program and the late Victor MacNaught, an illustrator/painter of Saugus, Massachusetts.
She is an active member of River Arts of Damariscotta and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation in Boothbay Harbor.
Bowman will donate 40 percent of sales to support the PWA mission of conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid peninsula.
The Pemaquid Watershed Association is located at 15 Courtyard Street, above Salt Bay Café in downtown Damariscotta. To view the exhibit, visit the association’s office from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
