Penobscot Language School offers French in Damariscotta
Conversational French classes through Penobscot Language School began March 7. Classes will address three levels of learning: beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate. All classes are held at the Damariscotta Baptist Church with experienced instructor, Margot Stiassni. Stiassni holds degrees in French Literature from Williams College and Stanford University and resourcefully meets individual needs throughout each class.
Découvrez le Français, an introduction to the French language and Francophone cultures, is offered Thursdays, 2-3:30 p.m. Students in this class will gain a foundation of useful travel-ready expressions, pronunciation tips, grammar and cultural information through a variety of teaching strategies. Parlez Français Avec Confiance, a class for advanced beginners is perfect for prospective travelers and those who want to revive their rusty French. Class will be Mondays, 10-11:30 a.m. and Tuesdays, 6-7:30 p.m. Students may register for one or both days. Vive le Français offered Tuesdays, 4-5:30 p.m. is an informal conversation class for intermediate level students who enjoy communicating in French while improving their skills. Current news articles, short stories, and poems provide a basis for learning and discussion.
