Peter Alexander Band headlines benefit concert
The third Friday Performance Arts Concert Series series begins with the Peter Alexander Band performing a concert of original rock and roll on the main stage of the famous Chocolate Church Arts Center on Friday, Oct. 18. Two popular local acts, Red Beans & Rice and Robby Simpson, will open the show.
Peter Alexander, a well-known guitarist, songwriter and performer in the Midcoast region, often appears as a soloist with his 12-string guitar. Alexander has shared the stage with many iconic names in rock ‘n’ roll such as Chuck Berry, Poco, Nils Lofgren, Rod Stewart, The Animals, and many others.
For this concert benefiting the Chocolate Church, Alexander is joined by the accomplished Tom Masucci on drums; longtime Bath resident Sheldon Bird on bass; and singer-songwriter Johannah Harkness on keyboards and percussion.
Red Beans & Rice, comprised of Carter “Mr. Rice” Ruff on slide guitar and Dave “Red Beans” Hunt on vocals and guitar, is a (mostly) acoustic duo playing an entertaining and engaging mix of blues, both old and new.
Robby Simpson is a Midcoast folk rock favorite with a Dylan-esque lyrical style.
The third Fridays Performance Arts Concerts build on the traditional Art Walk by focusing on local musicians. Upcoming concerts will feature Robby Simpson, Nov. 15 and Work Truck, Dec. 13. Opening acts for these shows to be determined.
This concert series is a fundraiser for the Chocolate Church Arts Center located at 804 Washington Street in Bath. Doors open at 7 p.m. with music starting at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 at the door ($7 with student ID), online at www.chocolatechurcharts.org or by calling 207-442-8455.
