Photographers
It's pretty amazing to see so many people enjoying photography. Everywhere you go, people are photographing.
During a recent visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, I ran into the multi-talented former Rite Aid pharmacist, Rick Powis, who was concentrating on some close ups of beautiful blooming items among the rhodies in the waterfall area.
He was all decked out in very fashionable photo attire (unlike a rather raggedy yours truly) with an exquisite macro lens, a beautiful Nikon camera and a snappy tripod.
I was inappropriately envious.
While distracting him, we visited with a lovely couple from near Seattle on a first trip to New England. The guy unit of the couple was an apple grower who had farmed over 1,200 acres, some of which grew the most extraordinary apple on the planet, the Honeycrisp! I bowed and said kind things. He used to ship thousands of cartons of apples all over the world. I gave him my address and begged.
I digress. But not too much. My point being, they had cameras too and were thrilled with their visit. Rick and I took full credit for their joy and invited them to join us for story hour at the Thistle; they declined.
Cameras are sharing the world around us like never before – that's my point.
