Public forum on facility improvements set for September 19
Over the past year, RSU 1 has been reviewing the current condition of our facilities with the assistance of Harriman Architects and Engineers.
RSU 1 includes schools from the communities of Woolwich, Arrowsic, Bath, Phippsburg and West Bath.
The district has many aging buildings, which are of concern. The finance and facility committees have been meeting on a regular basis to develop a list of items that they feel need to be addressed immediately.
These needs are all either safety concerns or need to be done to prevent the shutdown of one of our facilities. Morse High School in Bath needs the most attention, but there are items at some of our other schools that are pressing as well.
The board of directors is considering going out for a bond referendum in November to support these facility needs.
Before this decision is made, we would like to hear from you and provide you with more detailed information. Below are the dates of tours and a public forum:
- Thursday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m at Morse High School in Bath (tour and brief presentation)
- Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. at Morse High School in Bath (Public Forum)
- Friday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. at Morse High School in Bath(tour and brief presentation)
- Monday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. at Morse High School in Bath (tour and brief presentation)
Please RSVP for tours on September 19 and 20 as we will only be able to offer them to the first 15 people who respond. The public forum is open to everyone as is the tour on the evening of September 23.
