Dear Editor:

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be a good representative of the people of Maine.  However, the citizens of District 47 are lucky that they have one. Ed Polewarczyk was one. During Ed’s time with the Space Shuttle program, he was a member of the team that gave the “Go” for launch. He was responsible for the team that managed problem solving during missions and he managed multi-million dollar projects.  

Ed developed high-level problem-solving skills during his career. He brought these skills from Houston to Augusta. Ed has the skills and the trust to work across the aisle to help solve problems getting needed legislation passed. This ability helped eliminate a tax exemption for Maine Yankee. This saved the Wiscasset taxpayers an increase in property taxes of 15%. Again, he worked across the aisle helping teachers and state employees by eliminating penalties for early retirement. 

Ed has served on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee where he gained experience with the statues relating to education in Maine’s elementary and secondary schools as well as the University system. 

A vote for Ed Polewarczyk to return to the Maine House of representative is a vote for good government.
