The Regatta is the high water (literally!) mark of the Pumpkinfest festivities. There are three divisions – individual paddleboats, relay paddleboats, and motorboats. Here are the results, apparently final, but with the Regatta, one never really knows.
Paddleboat Division: Heat 1 Individual–1st Jaja Martin; 2nd Sarah Whitty; 3rd Alice Andrenyak
Heat 2 Individual–1st Dale Hart; 2nd Todd Sanstrum; 3rd Margaret Ivins
Heat 1 Team–1st Sarah Whitty, Dale Hart; 2nd Jaja Martin, Robert Watts; 3rd Alice Andrenyak, Sandy Carleton
Heat 2 Team–1st Jim Souza, Todd Sanstrum; 2nd Margaret Ivins, Taylor Kann; 3rd Tim Smith, Lisa Evans
Motorboat Division: 1st Cappy Dean - Colby & Gale; 2nd Buzz Pinkham - My Little Pony; 3rd Russell Orms - The Viking; 4th Tom Lishness - The Gnome
Tim Smith and Lisa Evans, also known as “Boston Tim and Lisa,” are summer residents in the Damariscotta area, and they’ve made pumpkin boats in years past. However, this year, they said sorrowfully, their pumpkin only got to the size of a beach ball. So instead, they used the vines from their pumpkin as part of their costumes. They didn’t do overly well, but in the end, they said it didn’t matter. They love the Regatta and will try to do it as often as they can.
