Regina K. Godfrey
Regina Keene Godfrey, 72, of Southport, in her own words entered a far more beautiful place on June 10, 2023.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1951, the daughter of James Everett Keene and Regina Matthews Keene. To say that Jeannie was a loving, caring and devoted person to her family and many friends would definitely be an understatement. Nothing was more important to her. And she always maintained an unparalleled can-do attitude with no hesitation in diving into almost any project, whether for herself or to help others. She loved to cook, garden, read and travel. In particular, Key West became a favorite escape for a month or two from Maine’s cold winters. It always seemed to keep her feeling young and vibrant.
Jeannie grew up in Boothbay, attending local schools and graduating from Boothbay Region High School in 1969. She had a variety of jobs over the years, including several years selling advertising for the Boothbay Register. That was also how she met her husband, who owned McSeagull’s Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor at the time.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years David Godfrey, daughters Mary Jo Bennett and Selena Brewer, both of Boothbay, son-in-law Scott Bennett and grandsons Scott and Stephen Bennett, all of Boothbay, and a niece Sarah Bouvier and nephew Christopher Gremillion, both of New Orleans. She was predeceased by her sister Brenda Gremillion.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Boothbay Harbor.
Halls of Boothbay has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, visit Jeannie’s Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
