Retroactive law
Dear Editor:
Can you imagine a society where a new law makes a legal action you performed years ago suddenly illegal, subjecting you to financial loss, a fine or imprisonment. Retroactive laws must not be allowed in Maine. Although unconstitutional, given some of their recent decisions, we cannot rely on the courts to overturn Question 1.
Vote “no” on Question 1 in November.
