Richard Loren and his new book ‘High Notes: A Rock Memoir’ at Porter Hall
Heads up, Deadheads and fans of ’60s rock: Richard Loren, music agent and former manager for the Grateful Dead, will be at Porter Hall on Dec. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is hosted by the Maine Coast Bookshop also of Damariscotta.
His book, “High Notes: A Rock Memoir,” is a lively and colorful account of his coast to coast coming of age from the 1960s to the ’80s.
A personal manager for Gerry Garcia and the Dead from 1974-1981, he also represented many headline artists including Jefferson Airplane and The Doors. Loren produced numerous large-scale special events nationally and internationally during some of the most pivotal years in rock music history.
Stunning video clips will be shown and refreshments will be served.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase and the event is free and open to all. Loren will be signing books.
In his book review, David Browne, contributing editor at Rolling Stone, wrote, “It's the story of rock ‘n’ roll itself ... and how young men like Loren were swept up in the madness and magic of it all.”
Now retired, Loren lives in the Midcoast area with his partner, Deborah.
Meet the author and join fellow music lovers on Dec. 9 at Porter Hall auditorium in the Skidompha Public Library.
The library is located at 184 Main Street in Damariscotta.
