River Arts’ call to artists
River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for jurying in its upcoming exhibition, “Spring Greens.”Artists can submit up to three works in any medium including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics, fiber and fine craft – representational or abstract. Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours until the deadline, which is Saturday, April 28 at 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 4, 5-7 p.m.
Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at riverartsme.org and at the gallery, at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta, when submitting. Marlene Loznicka, juror for the show, is a native of York, Maine who now lives and maintains a studio on the rugged Pemaquid peninsula. She studied art at the North Carolina State University School of Design, the La Romita School of Art in Italy, and at the Vermont Studio School in Johnson, Vermont. Loznicka has taught painting at the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, and has conducted workshops on Monhegan Island. She is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society, the Southern Watercolor Society and the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. Her work has won numerous awards and is held in the collection of the Portland Museum of Art and many private collections.
River Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
