Sarah Greenier exhibit at Savory Maine
An exhibition of oil paintings by Bath artist Sarah Greenier will be on display at Damariscotta’s Savory Maine Dining and Provisions from July 23 through September 2.
The Greenier exhibit is in Savory Maine’s main dining room.
An opening reception for Greenier will be held on Friday, August 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. with beer, wine and delectable finger foods.
Greenier is an award-winning oil and watercolor artist of quintessential Maine scenes and landmarks, spanning from Portland to Stonington.
Her crisp, colorful paintings depict island and coastal life at its best. This collection of oil paintings comprises a few series of work; many smaller plein air pieces done on location, as well as several larger paintings of local landmarks.
Greenier grew up on Orr’s Island, studied graphic art at Pratt Art Institute in New York, and returned to Maine to work as a commercial artist for 10 years.
In 1997 Greenier began exhibiting and selling her paintings and prints at summer art shows throughout New England, where she won numerous awards. And, in 2006 she and her husband Tom opened a studio/gallery next to their home in Bath, where she paints and teaches during the fall and winter months.
Greenier said her art is always evolving; for the first 10 years she worked in watercolor and in 2005 switched to oils. This former studio painter began plein air painting with the PAPME artists group in Boothbay Harbor a few summers ago.
Among other coastal locations, Greenier and her husband have spent many summer weeks painting on Monhegan Island.
Savory Maine is located at 11 Water Street in Damariscotta. For more information on the artist visit www.sarahgreenier.com or contact Greenier at 207-443-3936.
