The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Federal Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience have opened a pop-up help center for Knox, Sagadahoc, and Lincoln counties’ residents and business owners to assist in their home and business rebuild following the severe storms, straight line winds, and flooding that occurred on Jan. 9-13.

They are eligible to apply through May 20 in-person at our Disaster Business Recovery Center (BRC) whose location is provided below, as well as online via MySBA Loan Portal. (www.sba.gov)

Additionally, the businesses in these counties, (including small agricultural cooperatives and aquaculture operations) while they may not have sustained physical damage, are in the “zone of economic impact” following such a disaster. In the years following rebuilding from natural disasters, we see a recurring phenomenon wherein the small businesses in the impacted areas take a financial hit causing sometimes cascading negative effects on the local economies. In an effort to support local business owners during these times, the SBA has a program to provide funds in the form of low-interest and long-term loans to carry them during the rebuild period via the EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loan) Program. This program's deadline is Dec. 23, 2024 and businesses may apply in person through May 20 at our BRC whose location is provided below, or online via MySBA Loan Portal (www.sba.gov) through that Dec. 23 deadline.

Our BRC in Lincoln County is there to assist affected residents and business owners with on-site Customer Service Representatives who are available for those who have exhausted their insurance benefits or personal resources, but have on-going need to rebuild and get back to normal.
