See Annie Darling’s encaustic show now
Annie Darling, an encaustic, mixed media artist, has a solo show in the West Gallery at River Arts that runs through July 11.
Annie Darling was born in Chicago, Illinois and studied fine art and graphic design at the University of Oregon and the University of Southern Maine where she graduated with a degree in communication Arts. Annie has enjoyed a distinguished career as an artist, art director, and designer, receiving international acclaim for her visual design work. She began working in the encaustic medium in 2010 and has since perfected her own technique which is evidenced in her distinctive style. Her paintings can be found in public venues and private collections world-wide.
Darling describes her love of the encaustic practice, “It requires you to exist so deeply in the moment; to be so entangled in emotion, embroiled in physical process, and so absolutely involved in creation that all else leaves your consciousness. Art is exploration and acceptance.”
River Arts is located at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 563-1507, email info@riverartsme.org or visit our website at www.riverartsme.org
